  • Novada Tokat opens with a ripple of excitement

    Türkiye genelinde 21 alışveriş merkezleri geliştirdi Turkmall, ve YILTAŞ Grubu, Orta Anadolu'nun önde gelen markalarından biri tarafından gerçekleşen, Novada Tokat Alışveriş Merkezi, heyecan bir dalgalanma ile kapılarını açtı.

    60 milyon Euro-alışveriş merkezi zaten 90 mağaza, 15 restoran ve eğlence alanları ile cazibe Tokat'ın yeni merkezi haline gelmiştir. Novada Tokat Osman Yıldırım, Alihan Çiçek'in, Hans Otto Nagel ve Levent Eyüboğlu başkanları ve YILTAŞ Grubu ve Turkmall başkan vekilleri sırasıyla katılımıyla 30 Nisan'da açıldı. Kurdele kesme sonra, açılış töreni Blues Kortej, Jonglör ve Kırmızı Bando performansları ile devam etti.

     

    Sanat ile temasa bir alışveriş merkezi

    Diğer Turkmall projeleri doğrultusunda, Novada Tokat yerel mimari, kültür ve yaşam tarzı hem de uygun geliştirilmiştir. Deniz Biber ve Kerim Kürkçü tarafından oluşturulan üç metal ağaçlar Selçuklu motifleri tasvir doğal taşlar ile dekore edilmiş merkezinin girişinde, yer almaktadır. Novada Tokat logosundan esinlenerek, bu eserleri Anadolu'nun kültürel çeşitliliğini simgeliyor.

    Countdown  has started for the first shopping center of Tokat 

    Developed jointly by Turkmall, one of the leading companies of the market with 21 shopping centers, and Yıltaş Group, one of the most prominent companies of Central Anatolia, Novada Tokat opens its doors on April 30.Recently, the project was introduced to the public with a press meeting. Turkmall Corporate Communication and Marketing Manager Müge Karahan, Yıltaş Group Board Chairman Osman Yıldırım and Vice Chairman Alihan Çiçek participated to the meeting.



    EUR 2 billion of investment in Anatolia

    "Anatolian cities are favorable locations for our investment strategy. We have invested 2 out of 5 billion Euros in these cities until today. Novada Tokat will be the center of not only shopping activities, also the social life in Tokat. We have intended to enhance the daily life in Tokat  with cinema hall, playground, cafes, restaurants, and cultural events which we will be organizing regularly,” Karahan said.

    "We are standing proudly with our over-30-years experience and contribution we provide to the economy of Turkey.  Novada Tokat Shopping Center, which we developed in collaboration with Turkmall, is one of the projects that we are proud of. We believe the project will add value to the social life and economy of the city, and it will make the city a shining star in its region," Yıldırım added.

    After the press meeting, Turkmall and Yıltaş Group board executives and press members took an introduction tour in the shopping center. Ahmet Arat, Tokat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman also participated to the tour, in which the project’s contribution stressed.

    Built on a 17,570 m2 of land at the junction point of Gaziosmanpaşa Boulevard and Yeşilırmak River, Novada Tokat offers 28,000 m2 of GLA including a 2,500 m2-hypermarket, 20,000 m2 of retail space covering local and international brands, a 1,600 m2-cinema hall, a 1,400 m2-entertainment area, and restaurants and cafes which are covering 2,500 m2 of space.

     

    The goal is 5 million visitors per year

    Started to develop in March 2013 with an investment of EUR 60 million, Novada Tokat will provide employment opportunities for 1,500 people. Aiming to attract 5 million visitors per year, the center has an architectural design that pays attention to the region’s climate conditions and architectural features. Novada Tokat provides a new experience of daily life in the city thanks to Seljukian motifs used on the entrance of the center and natural elements covering all spaces as well as its favorable brand-mix, and restaurant and cafes offering the finest examples of the examples of Turkish and world cuisine. Enjoying the excellent views of Yeşilırmak river and Tokat Fortress, Novada Tokat will be the new center of attraction in the city.

    Playland, an entertainment area for children and teenagers, has a very large bowling hall with 6 lines. Additionally, Novada Tokat’s 2,500 m2-food court includes restaurants like Köfteci Ramiz, McDonald's, Abide Kebap, HD İskender, Pidem, Burger King, Popeyes, Usta Dönerci, Sbarro and Otantik Kumpir.

     

  • Turkmall to leave its mark to North Aegean region with Novada Outlet Körfez

    Turkmall, which has invested EUR 5 billion in shopping centres with several partners since 1992, is now getting ready leave its mark to North Aegean Region thanks to Novada Outlet Körfez. Having developed five shopping centres (3 “Forum” shopping centres and 2 “Novada” outlets) in Aegean region, Turkmall will add value to North Aegean region with its brand new project.

    Located on Izmir-Çanakkale highway, between Edremit and Akçay districts, the EUR 30 million-shopping centre will offer a GLA of 16,000 m2. Novada Outlet Körfez will be the first modern shopping centre of Edremit Bay, of which the population jumps from 50,000 during winter to over two million people during summer time; and the centre will open its doors in 2014.

    “We have designed Novada Outlet Körfez with regards to climatic factors, local architecture and lifestyle, as we did in previous projects in Aegean region. The project will be realised with the concept of ‘open-air’ shopping centre. It will be a shopping & life centre that pleases visitors with its shopping streets, inner-yards, premium brands, restaurants and cafes, ” the CEO of Turkmall, which was awarded with “West Europe’s Best Retail Developer” by World Finance in 2011, Hilmi Özçakır, said.

    Expected to employ around 1,000 people, Novada Outlet Körfez is only 9 km away from the airport, and only 7 km away from the coastline.

  • Shopping centre investments heading towards Anatolia

    Reviewing the shopping centre investments in Turkey, Hilmi Özçakır, CEO of Turkmall, said: "Investments will be heading towards Anatolian cities, which are holding  a great potential."


    The number of shopping centres has been increasing. According to the research conducted with the contribution of Council Of Shopping Centres - Turkey (AYD)," Shopping Centres' Potential in Turkey",  there are 306 active shopping centres in 56 provinces across Turkey. 110 more shopping centres with a 13,249,913 m2 of total GLA are planned to be opened 2015, and 14 centres in 2014.  5 out of 14 will open its doors in Istanbul, remaining 9 centres are being developed in Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Çanakkale, Diyarbakır, Konya, Tokat, Kayseri, and Malatya.

    Operating in shopping centre development and investment sector since 1992, Turkmall has constructed 5 million m2 of retail space and provided 2.5 million of GLA with 30 shopping centres. The company has realised 10 shopping centres in several provinces of Turkey between 2004 and 2010.


    Turkmall's investments in Anatolia will continue

    Reviewing the shopping centre investments in Turkey, Hilmi Özçakır, CEO of Turkmall, said that Turkey is still in need of shopping centre investments. Pointing out Anatolia for new investments, Özçakır said: "In the upcoming period, shopping centre investments will be heading towards Anatolian cities, which are holding a great potential. Investments will gear up not only in large provinces, also in small districts. Provinces or districts with a population of 150,000 to 200,000 people will be considered as potential investment locations by investors and developers. Because, such locations are also holding a great potential as centres of attraction for social life.  Thus, I can tell that investment risk is quite low for these locations if you have the accurate feasibility and the right shopping centre concept."

    Noting that Anatolian cities shine out among Turkmall's investment locations, Özçakır told that Turkmall has invested EUR 2 billion out of EUR 5 billion in Anatolia, and that the company will continue to invest in Anatolian cities.

     


    Novada shopping centre chain expands
    Turkmall is planning to expand its Novada shopping centre chain with new investments and projects in Anatolia.

    Pushing the limits of the world created by people regards to their consumption own habits,  Turkmall offers a new concept to the sector with the Novada brand. The very first Novada Shopping Centre was opened in Söke region of Aydın. The centre, which is also the first open-air outlet shopping centre of the region, offers factory outlet stores of many prestigious brands.

    Novada brand's second shopping centre was opened in Ataşehir, the upcoming financial centre of Istanbul. Turkmall is expanding the Novada shopping centre chain with Novada Konya in Konya,  Novada Outlet Balçova in Izmir, and Novada Tokat in Tokat. The company plans to expand the chain further with new investments and projects across Anatolia.

    The difference of Novada

    Noting that shopping centre chains are creating a great synergy, Hilmi Özçakır, CEO of Turkmall, explained the difference of Novada: "Firstly, we have put the concept of entertainment to the centre of the new shopping world we created. The concept of 'experience' stands next to 'entertainment' in this world.   • Novada Outlet Balçova to open its doors

    Redefining the concepts of shopping and entertainment for Izmir, Novada Outlet Balçova will open its doors for visitors by the end of this year.


    Turkmall, which have constructed 5 million m2 retail space since 1992, has opened a new “Novada” shopping centre, adding a new link to the brand.

    Opened in 2006 in Izmir, Selway Outlet Park is now in a renovation process initiated by Turkmall and T.J. Investment Consultancy, one of the biggest investors in Izmir. The project, which has been named Novada Outlet Balçova, is due to be completed in the last quarter of 2013. According to the renovation strategy, Novada Outlet Balçova is expanded with additional buildings across the highway, increasing the GLA of 8,000 m2 to 35,000 m2. Located on a 250,000 m2 of land, the centre will be expanded more if required.

    Number of stores will reach to 140

    Novada Outlet Balçova will offer various well-known brands to its visitors by increasing the number of stores from 32 to 140, including a supermarket, an electronics market, and both local and international brands of the retail industry. Almost 2,000 m2 of space will be designated for the food-court. Blocks on either sides of the highway will be connected with custom-design bridges.

    Novada Outlet Balçova will redefine the concepts of shopping and entertainment with its food-court with sea view, a 5,000-seat amphitheatre, a business hotel, the “Adventure Rock” amusement park to be located on 15,000 m2 of land. The shopping centre will also feature a parking space for 1,000 vehicles.

    With its location on Izmir-Çeşme highway that moves 5 million vehicles a year, the shopping centre is 3 minutes away from Izmir’s new fairground, 8 km from Adnan Menderes Airport, 30 minutes from Çeşme, and 6 km from Izmir city centre.

  • Inditex Group has entered Sarajevo

    Inditex Group has entered Sarajevo City Centre, which received great interest of the retail industry.

    Leased by Turkmall, Sarajevo City Centre will open its doors in October 2013. The project which is developed in Bosnia-Herzegovina’s capital, Sarajevo, has been receiving great interest of prominent brands of the retail industry. The shopping centre offers around 28,000 m2 of GLA with 110 stores. Representing Zara, Massimo Dutti, Pull&Bear, Bershka, and Stradivarius brands, Inditex Group will be operating in Sarajevo City Centre, as well as Playland and Koton from Turkey.

    First five-star hotel of the city
    Sarajevo City Centre also features the first five-star hotel of Sarajevo in addition to the shopping centre and commercial office spaces. Project development, construction, leasing and management services undertaken by Turkmall, the project is easily accessible with its location, next to Parliament building in the city centre. The project is 15 minutes away from the airport and it is quite accessible with 12 public transport lines.

  • People of Ataşehir had great time with Sertab Erener

    Novada Ataşehir Shopping Centre brightened the social life of Ataşehir with Sertab Erener concert held in May. The concert series will continue until October .



    Sertab Erener was the first guest of series of public concerts organised by Novada Ataşehir. Staying on the stage for 90 minutes nonstop, Erener performed songs from her 13rd solo album, “Sade”, as well as her most popular songs. Her enthusiastic fans on the streets had great time while singing along Sertab Erener. Erener’s spectacular performance was enjoyed by audiences including her young fans and families with children.


    Inviting audiences in balconies around the shopping centre to the concert area, Erener announced that a video clip will be shot for one of her songs, “Öyle de Güzel, Böyle de Güzel”, and asked audiences to wish good luck for herself. Addressing her fans with saying “Be colourful. I love you,” Erener ended her performance with the song “Rengarenk”.
     

    The concerts in Novada Ataşehir will continue with Yalın, La Descarga and Kerem Turhan.

  • Bulvar Samsun celebrates its new awards!

    Bulvar Samsun has won the “Special Jury Award for the Best Refurbishment Project” in 2013 ICSC European Shopping Centre Awards, also known as the “Oscars of Shopping Centres”, and it has awarded with the “Best European Shopping Centre Honorary Award” in its own category. The centre also granted the “Best Shopping Centre” award in ArkiPARC Property Awards.

     

    Organised by International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) and considered as the “Oscars of Shopping Centres”, the 2013 ICSC European Shopping Centre Awards has been unveiled. 12 finalists from 8 different countries competed for, the most prestigious awards of the industry announced in ICSC European Conference which is held in Stockholm on 17-18 April. Competed with projects from Italy and Germany among “New Developments” in “Medium” category, Bulvar Samsun has granted two awards, the “Best European Shopping Centre Honorary Award” and the “Special Jury Award for the Best Renovation Project”.

     

    One more award from ArkiPARC

    Organized by Arkitera Architecture Centre every year with the aim of drawing together professionals of the industry, ArkiPARC was held on 10-11 April this year.  Making it to the finals thanks to the votes of ArkiPARC jury members, Bulvar Samsun has awarded with the “Best Shopping Centre” award in ‘shopping centres’ category of the ArkiPARC Property Awards after receiving the highest vote by participants.

     

    Aiming to honour both people and corporations that are contributing to enhance the quality of physical environment since 2008, ArkiPARC Property Awards have been given to in categories of Residence, Office, Hotel, Shopping Centre, Alternative Investments, and Mixed-use.

    Bulvar Samsun Shopping Centre, realised jointly by most significant investors of Turkey, Torunlar REIT and Turkmall, is an urban renewal project which is carried out along with the restoration of an old tobacco factory that was established in 1897, right in the middle of the city. Opened in July 2012, the centre is one of the substantial urban renewal projects in Turkey.

  • Turkmall opens its 22nd shopping centre in Tokat

    Invested EUR 2 billion in Anatolia out of a total EUR 5 billion in 21 years, Turkmall opens its 22nd shopping centre in Tokat. The EUR 60 million-project is already in the construction stage.

    Having been constructed 5 million m2 retail space since 1992, Turkmall has started to develop a new shopping centre in Tokat. Developed 2.5 million m2 of GLA out of a total 8.1 million m2 across Turkey, the company increases its number of shopping centres to 22 with Novada Tokat Shopping Centre in Tokat.

    Located on a 17,750 m2 of land with a GLA of 30,000 m2, Novada Tokat comprises of a 2,500 m2-hypermarket, 20,000 m2 of retail spaces including local and international brands, a 2,000 m2-cinema, a 400 m2-leasure area, and restraurant and cafes covering 2,300 m2. The centre is scheduled to open its doors in the first half of 2014 and it will provide employment opportunities to 1,500 people.

    Noting the company has already invested EUR 5 billion thanks to more than 30 business partnerships in 10 countries, Levent Eyüboğlu, Chairman of Turkmall Real Estate, said: “Anatolian cities have a significant place among our investment locations.   • Joyful events were held at Novada Ataşehir

    Novada Ataşehir has hosted children with joyful events. Children spent their midterm break with having fun and learning through experience thanks to the activities organized in the centre.

     

    Novada Ataşehir, the modern and easily accessible shopping centre of Ataşehir district, offered amusing activities for its junior visitors in the midterm break, between 22 January and 10 February.  Children enjoyed themselves in Novada Ataşehir with the Minika Child Feast, the Bonsai workshop, costumed characters, workshops, the SwingCar race, vocational guidance with Green Box, Pepee’s World, and the 3rd Ataşehir Children’s Theatres Festival.

    Birthday of Minika, a television channel broadcasting for children, was celebrated in Novada Ataşehir. Welcomed by costumed characters, hundreds of children enjoyed amusing games of painting, silly putty, making masks, and tournaments. Various gifts presented to all children participated to the events.

     

     

    The first Turkish cartoon character that children watch admiringly on “TRT Çocuk” television channel, Pepee, juiced up the midterm break as well. Children played games and danced with the Pepee mascot.

    Vocational guidance with Green Box was also one of the most attracting activities for children. Children enjoyed being photographed in Green Box as they were doing their dream job. Children mostly become a doctor, a civil engineer, and a policeman while chef and ballet dancer were also among popular professions.

    Novada Ataşehir also hosted SwingCar races for children. Participants enjoyed cliff-hanger races for SwingCars all day long.

    Free theatre plays

    Organized by Ataşehir Municipality for the third time, Ataşehir Children’s Theatres Festival presented beautiful plays for children of all ages.

    Aiming to provide amusing and instructing events in the midterm break for children, the festival held between 31 January and 10 February. Drawing great interest of children, 9 wonderful plays were performed for free during the festival. Within the scope of the festival, plays of Macera Treni [Train of Adventure] by Tiyatrokare, Şirinler [Smurfs] by 5 Taş Çocuk Tiyatrosu, Mutlu Prens [Happy Prince] by Sarıyer Sanat Tiyatrosu, Pamuk Prenses Mikroplar Ülkesinde [Snow White in the Land of Germs] by Uygur Çocuk Tiyatrosu, Mutluluğa Seyahat [Journey to Happiness] by Migros Çocuk Tiyatrosu, Her Şey Elimizde [Everything Is In Our Hands] by Tiyatro Yeniden, Benim Komik Dedişlerim [My Funny Grandpas] by Mavi Uçurtma Tiyatrosu, Hayat Çeşmesi [Fountain of Life] by Cengiz Küçükaymaz Tiyatrosu, and Avcı Kaçıyor [Run Away Hunter] byMavi Kumpanya have edutainted the children in their midterm break.

     

     

  • Novada Konya opens in 2014

    New meeting point of Konya: Novada Konya

    Planned to be the new centre of attraction in Konya, Novada Konya is being realised by Turkmall. Novada Konya will be opened in 2014 with a GLA of around 33,000 m2.

    Project and concept development, leasing and management services are provided by Turkmall, Novada Konya will be the new centre of Konya. The centre will add value to Selçuklu with its location in the heart of a newly developing district in Konya, surrounded by the bus terminal and the congress centre.

    Novada Konya will provide the long-awaited organised, pleasant and joyful shopping experience to visitors thanks to its modern architectural design, as well as its local and international brands.

    Planned to be the uplifting element of the district’s commercial and social life, Novada Konya comprises of premium brands, an electronics market, a cinema, and leisure areas. The centre is scheduled to be opened in the first quarter of 2014.

  • Gulan Park’s leasing and management services will be provided by Turkmall

    Turkmall is in Erbil!

    One of the significant projects of Erbil, Gulan Park’s leasing and management services are now undertaken by Turkmall. The centre is scheduled to be opened in 2015.

    Having been developed on Gulan Street, the most prestigious street of the Iraqi Kurdistan’s capital, the mixed-use project comprises of residence, hotel and office functions. Turkmall keeps expanding its abroad portfolio by providing leasing and management services for Gulan Park, one of the significant investments of SB Ozel Group in Northern Iraq.

    Gulan Park is planned to be completed in 2015 in Erbil, also known as second Dubai of Middle East, and the centre offers a GLA of 35,000 m2.

  • Second centre of “Novada” brands has opened in Ataşehir

    Developed by Turkmall in Turkey, Novada brand’s second shopping centre has opened in Ataşehir, Istanbul. The shopping centre, which has an investment value of EUR 50 million, offers 70 brands.

    Novada brand’s second shopping centre has opened in Ataşehir, the upcoming financial centre of Istanbul, in January 22.

    Jointly developed by Turkmall, Hat Coğrafi A.Ş. and Ataşehir Municipality, Novada Ataşehir has required an investment of EUR 50 million.     Levent Eyüboğlu, Vice Chairman of Turkmall, informed the visitors of 12th Retail Days about the new projects of Turkmall and announced that Turkmall will invest in new shopping centres in 2013.

    Held in Lütfi Kırdar Convention & Exhibition Centre on November 28-29, 2012, 12th Retail Days attracted great attention with its guests and topics shaping the future of retail market. 16 panel discussions are held with 25 national and international panellists in the two-day organisation.

    Levent Eyüboğlu, Vice Chairman of Turkmall which is one of the main sponsors of Retail Days, reviewed the retail market in the panel discussion titled “What lies ahead of the retail market in the near future”.   • Sarajevo City Centre to open in 2013

    Developed in Sarajevo, the mixed-use project Sarajevo City Centre attracts the biggest brands of Turkish retail market.

    People of Söke both amused and won gifts with the events organised in Novada Outlet Söke during the last summer. Hosting a range of concerts, Novada Outlet Söke gave the visitors various gifts with shopping campaigns.

     

    Novada Outlet Söke was the only address for concerts of famous singers and bands during the last summer. The long-expected pop music singer, Keremcem has performed and met his fans in Novada Outlet Söke on Saturday, May 26. Performed for almost 10.000 fans, Keremcem has given his autographed CDs to his 20 fans, who are chosen from among the singer’s followers in social media.

    Emre Altuğ was the surprise of June in Novada Outlet Söke. The pop music singer performed for 20.000 people on Saturday, June 30 while the shopping centre hosted 40.000 visitors during that day.

    Live concerts continued with the band MetroBoss on July 7. Drawing attention with their performances in Istanbul venues, the band gave an unforgettable night to the visitors of Novada Outlet Söke.

    La Descarga, the biggest band of the Latin music in Turkey, was in Novada Outlet Söke on July 15. The founder of the band, toumba player Luis Ernesto Gomez's and his wife Gülseren Yıldırım Gomez's live performance well appreciated.

    The historical Samsun Tobacco Factory has been renovated and transformed into Bulvar Life & Shopping Centre. Required a EUR 50 million investment, the centre has opened its doors in June.

    Developed within the framework of the urban regeneration plan of the city centre, the historical Tobacco Factory has reopened its doors in June with the name Bulvar Life & Shopping Centre (Bulvar Samsun), offering a new meeting point for Samsun.

    The Bulvar Samsun project is developed jointly by Torunlar REIT and Turkmall by renovation of the historical Tobacco Factory. Located in the very heart of the city, the 125 year-old factory was not in use for 18 years. Renovated within the framework of the urban regeneration plan of Samsun, the development was completed in only 25 months with hard work, retaining its original architectural charm. The project has required a EUR 50 million investment, and it is providing employment to 1.000 people.

    Located right in the middle of the the city’s most popular shopping districts, Mecidiye and Gazi streets, on 19 Mayıs Boulevard, Bulvar Samsun is settled on a 20.000 square meters of land. The project provides an 18.000 square meters of GLA of which 13.500 square meters for stores, 3.000 square meters for restaurants and cafes, and 1.500 square meters for office and leisure space. Providing a 20.000 square meters of parking space, the shopping centre offers 45 brands.

    Bulvar Samsun comprises of inner courts and a large square, which are also the main features of Anatolian architecture. There is a statue dedicated to labourers of the factory in the middle of the square, where cultural and entertainment activities are hold. Picturing a male and a female labourer in a tobacco leaf, the sculpture is created by sculptor Hakan Karakaya.

    The historic Tobacco plant in Samsun now to come back alive as Bulvar Samsun

    The old tobacco plant in Samsun, which remained idle for 18 years, is now fully restored. The tobacco plant was not merely important for Samsun, it also had a very important place for our national economy and is now being converted into the Bulvar Samsun Shopping and Lifestyle Center by 2 leading shopping center investors in Turkey, Torunlar Real Estate Investment Trust and Turkmall Group.  The 50 million Euro project is about to go live in June.

    Two of Turkey`s leading investors in shopping centers and commercial real estate, Torunlar REIT and Turkmall joined forces in building the Bulvar Samsun Shopping and Lifestyle Center, which is about to start operating in June this year. First built in 1887, the building served as a tobacco plant and played an important role in terms of economic activity. Since 1994, the building was desolate in the center of town, it is now fully renewed and will now start to operate as a result of urban gentrification in Samsun.

    45 Local and international brands

    Bulvar Samsun is centered in the junction of two high streets in town, Mecidiye and Gazi Streets and spans a total of 17400 m2. The shopping center operates 16000 m2 of leasable space, 11600 of which is made up of stores while the remaining 2400 m2 will be made up of restaurants and cafes and some 2000 m2 for office space. The mall has an indoor parking capacity of 2000 m2 and already some 45 local and international brands are ready to open to business in the mall.

     Respecting tobacco workers

    Bulvar Samsun has over 1400 m2 recreational space displaying some of the most typical elements of Anatolian design and architecture, such as spacious courtyards and a large central space. The center will house culture, arts and entertainment events. A statue has been built in the center of the square in the memory of laborers who worked in tobacco plantations and were important for the country`s economy. The statue measures 2.5 x 1.7 x 1 m. and represents the tobacco plant, a woman and a male figure, designed by sculptor Hakan Karakaya.

    Creating a 1000 new jobs

    Aziz Torun, Chairman Torunlar REIT and Levent Eyuboglu, Vice Chairman of Turkmall group organized a press meeting in Samsun and promoted the new shopping and lifestyle center. Bulvar Samsun will create 1000 new jobs and is built in the old tobacco plant which had shut down in 1994 until a Cabinet decision in 2006 on gentrification.

    In 2009 the Metropolitan Municipality run a tender and the building was leased by Torunlar-Turkmall joint venture for 30 years. The group started the restoration of the building in Q3 of 2010 and reached completion within 25 months. The income generated from the operation of the building and the parking lot owned by the Metropolitan Municipality will pay dividends to the landlord. After 30 years the entire ownership of the building will be transferred to the Municipality.

     Exemplary urban gentrification project

    Aziz Torun, Chairman Torunlar REIT, highlighted some of the multiple outstanding features of the project. He said that the Bulvar Samsun project is a culmination of the synergy between Torunlar REIT and the extensive experience, knowledge and vision of Turkmall Group.   • Interest from Gulf economies turn to investment in Turkey

    Edge Capital, a private equity firm based in Beirut, has announced 250 Million USD investment in the Turkish real estate sector within the next 5 years.

    Naji Boutros, CEO, Edge Capital attended a press gathering at Divan Hotel Istanbul with Levent Eyuboglu, Vice Chairman of Turkmall Group and drew attention to the growing importance of Turkey for both the Gulf and investors worldwide, focusing on Turkey`s rapidly developing economy and its unique geopolitical strength.

    Naji Boutros, formerly an executive at Colony Capital which is one of the world`s largest investment corporations, said he had a special connection with Turkey because his ancestors were originally from Antioch. Boutros stated that the company will soon underwrite leading real estate projects in Turkey as a result of their extensive international experience and the outstanding entrepreneurial skill base in Turkey. Mr. Boutros underscored how happy they were to engage with Turkmall in their joint venture.

     Edge Capital has a 25 % stake in Turkmall Real Estate, which is the real estate business run by Turkmall. The share of Edge Capital depends on the development projects run by Turkmall Real Estate. Edge Capital has shares in the Novada Outlet, Soke, built by Turkmall and the Bulvar Samsun Shopping and Lifestyle Center in Samsun. Edge Capital and Turkmall are now preparing to undertake a series of leading investments outside Turkey, including a real estate development project co-developed by Quatari investors in the heart of Beirut, a number of shopping centers in Tunisia, including different international investors and multiple real estate development projects in Kazakhistan. Edge Capital also has a stake in the Tokat and Kesan projects developed by Turkmall in Turkey.

    The companies have agreed in principle on a 50 % distribution of shares in this joint venture.

    Edge Capital plans to invest 250 million USD in real estate in 5 years. Furthermore, Edge Capital has very strong ties with the international investment community. Levent Eyuboglu stated that their goal is to attract up to a billion dollars in international investment in Turkey, underpinned by the joint venture with Edge Capital. Naji Boutros remarked the outstanding results achieved in their partnership with Mars Entertainment 5 years ago helped convince them to take further investment decisions in Turkey. In spite of the global recession, Boutros complimented on Turkey`s strong economic performance and its young and dynamic demographics which are some of the leading elements for Turkey to become an attractive place for investment for all international investors, including the Gulf. `Compared to 2007 when we invested in Turkey there is now a growing level of interest and confidence in the Turkish economy from around the globe. Turkey`s population of 75 million and the annual increase in the population by about a million people pose a great opportunity for investors. This creates a substantial drive for both production and consumption with an average age of 30, Turkey already possesses the right demographic pyramid for a strong economy. There will be many more investments to come in the next 5 years as interest and confidence in Turkey is maintained. We, for one, are very happy to have a role in investments made in Turkey.`

    Boutros added that they have plans to also invest in entertainment while they still pursue opportunities in areas other than real estate development.

  • The first shopping mall in Dohuk, in North Iraq is constructed by Turks

    A new bazaar for Turkish retailers: Dohuk Mazi Plus

    A joint venture with an asset value of 180 million USD by Betaş Tema and Yorum İnşaat  is being constructed in Dohuk, containing a shopping mall and luxurious residences.

    The groundbreaking ceremony of Mazi Plus Shopping Mall took place last week in Dohuk on a total area of 120.000m2.  Architectural design of residence is made by M&M Project and project development, leasing and management is done by Turkmall. The construction is aimed to be finished in 18 months and cost a total of 180 million USD.  The project will contain more than 120 retail shops, a hypermarket, a furniture shop, a beauty center, entertainment facilities for kids and adults, cafes, restaurants and cinemas.

  • Turkmall Starts Construction of 4 Turkish Projects at Once
    Turkmall has pushed the start button for the construction of four projects at once. Two in Istanbul (Novada Maslak Culture & Convention Center and Novada Ata?ehir Shopping Center), one in Samsun (Bulvar Samsun) and one in Söke (Novada Söke Outlet Shopping Center) are in the process of construction.   • Turkmall Joins MAPIC 2010 in Cannes

    MAPIC 2010, the 16th edition took place in Cannes, France on 17-19 November 2010. More confidence, more retailers and more developments were the dominant themes of MAPIC 2010 as over 7,400 delegates from 67 countries – including more than 2,000 retailers – descended on Cannes for the annual international retail real estate event.

    Delegates from France, Italy, the UK, Belgium, Russia, Spain, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Turkey made up the top ten by numbers, while Chile, Colombia, Armenia, Paraguay, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Cyprus and Taiwan made their debut.
